Toddler Practical Life Skills

Life Skills Collage.jpg.jpg

I am excited to share with you a series of pictures to celebrate Little Bee's developing toddler practical life skills.  He has entered into the stage of wanting to "do it himself!"  So this Mama has set up the stage for him to practice his skills "almost" all by himself.  😉  These are some of my favorite pictures of Little Bee.  My baby is growing up!  In these pictures, Little Bee is working with a regular sized spoon and fork.

Fork and Spoon

The next series of pictures is of Little Bee experimenting with a "real" little glass cup.  He begs for sips from our "adult" green shakes every morning, so I decided to give him his very own cup.  It was a bit messy, but this life skills activity was a BIG HIT with Little Bee!  He was as happy as a clam!  🙂

And of course in true Montessori fashion, Little Bee had fun cleaning up after himself!  🙂

Clean Up

Another life skill that Little Bee is very much into right now is the concept of "on" and "off."  He loves to turn the lights on.  He still has a hard time turning them off.  He wants to push the flip switch like a button.  We keep working on how to turn the lights off.  It won't be long until he has this skill mastered as his little mind is a sponge.

On and OffLittle Bee adores his Daddy and follows him everywhere when Da Da is home.  Little Bee is Daddy's little shadow.  He loves to help Daddy with tasks.  Here Little Bee is helping Daddy dismantle his crib.  Little Bee no longer uses his crib because he loves sleeping on his floor bed instead.  Helping Dada

Little Bee had a lot of fun pushing and pulling this screw "in" and "out" of the hole on the crib.  This concept of "in" and "out" is fascinating for Little Bee's ever learning mind.

Thanks for visiting!

Isn’t it amazing how the little life skills are so entertaining for them? I’m surprised at how many parents don’t even think to allow their baby to try things like drinking from a real cup.

The small glass is a great idea. Baby is so interested in our glasses! He’s not ready for food yet, but even empty could be fun!

Little sponge is right! It’s amazing what little ones soak up and learn. Watching them learn new skills, and be EXCITED about it, is such fun!

Very helpful info! We should understand kids psychology and mold ourselves as per them. Rather than feeling cranky when they do all the silly things.

I agree! 🙂 It’s not easy to always understand the child, but it’s always good to give them the benefit of the doubt. They are still figuring out this world through play.
