A wonderful way for children to learn about the world around them is through hands-on play. This lovely DIY felt pumpkin parts craft, is an easy hands-on activity to help a child learn about the parts of a pumpkin and its life cycle. Also, included in this post is a free pumpkin diagram printable.
Materials Needed for DIY Felt Pumpkin Parts:
- 1 Dark Orange, 1 Light Orange, 1 Brown, 1 Dark Green, 1 Light Green, 1 White Thick (wool/rayon) Felt Sheets (9in x 12in sheets)
- Scissors
- Pencil or Pen
- Crayons for Coloring the Control Card (optional)
- Free Pumpkin Printable for Tracing onto the Felt (scroll down)
*Please note: I recommend using the thick wool/rayon felt because it is easier to handle and cut versus the flimsy felt pieces.

Little Bee enjoyed learning about the pumpkin parts and the life-cycle of the pumpkin. This book "Seed, Sprout, and Pumpkin Pie" from the National Geographic has lovely real images of a growing pumpkin and all the things that can be created with pumpkins. It even had pictures of pumpkins so big that you could sit in them! Little Bee thought that was cool.
