Little Bee and I totally immersed ourselves in pumpkin activities this past month. We enjoyed pumpkin play dough, Autumn sensory play, and this week Montessori Fall Fun by scrubbing the pumpkin clean. This activity is wonderful for teaching a child to care for their environment and the objects in their environment. Giving a young child this responsibility empowers them to feel important because they have a job to do. They will take this job seriously and to the young child, it isn't a job at all! It's fun... it's play. This scrubbing activity was the perfect time to get Little Bee's tot cleaning kit out and choose several scrubbing brushes, a squirt bottle, and a drying cloth.Little Bee took his pumpkin cleaning job very seriously and cleaned the pumpkin all the way to the stem!He also enjoyed spraying the pumpkin with water from his squirt bottle. He thought it was so funny to also spray water into his mouth. Silly boy!The various textures on the blue dish sponge intrigued Little Bee. He also enjoyed squeezing the sponge and watching the water drops fall.Lastly, Little Bee carefully dried the pumpkin with his micro fiber cleaning cloth.

I need to get out and do this today! It would be such a fun activity. And you definitely inspired me with the cleaning kit. We had to go out and build one ourselves! 🙂
